CCÉ Teampall An Ghleanntáin Notes

March 22, 2019

Music classes resume on Monday next (25th) after the Féile Pádraig break. The Bodhrán classes continue on Saturday evenings at 5pm.

Members of the senior céilí band provided entertainment on the platform at Abbeyfeale on Lá le Pádraig prior to the parade. Other craobh members were involved in various events around the National Feast Day including church music, concert and sessions.

Members will be interested to hear that Mullingar will be the venue for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2020 and so it will be returning to where it all began in 1951.

Nearer home Fleadh Cheoil Luimnigh will take place in Athea on the June holiday weekend and those who have attended previous Fleadhanna there have fond memories of those occasions.

Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan is back in Ennis again this year, July 14-22.

Congratulations to Con Warren on the recent launch of his CD Lovely Gougane Barra. Proceeds from the CD are being donated to the Friends of St Ita’s Hospital. Con is a member of the local Seisiún group that performs in the Comhaltas Summer shows at the Devon Inn. The CD is available locally at Buckley’s shop as well as Ann Lyons’ and the Coffee Pot, Abbeyfeale.
