Annual County Convention 2019

November 21, 2019

The Annual County Convention of Limerick CCÉ took place last night, Wednesday, November 20th in Woodlands House Hotel, Adare. The meeting was chaired by Cathaoirleach Séamus Ó Ceallaigh.

This is the most important meeting of the year for the County Board as it is where the officers for the coming year are elected and reports are given on the work of the County Board over the past year. There was good discussion from all in attendance on a lot of topics including the new online membership system, child protection.

Two motions were also discussed - the first, relating to moving the County Fleadh from the June Bank Holiday weekend was not carried. It was agreed by all in attendance that keeping the same weekend each year was preferable and removed the difficulty seen in other counties to find a suitable weekend. The second motion to increase number of entries allowed from each branch per competition in Ceol an Gheimhridh from 3 to 5 was carried after an amendment from the floor suggest a trial of 4 entries per competition for 2020 with a review to be held afterwards.
