Seminar on the Roles of Branch Officers
September 05, 2019
This year of 2019 has been designed as Bliain na mBall by Comhaltas. It is a timely and welcome decision to recogonise that the membership is the foundation of the organisation and plays a key role in the realisation of the aims of the founding members and the success that has been achieved. The members are volunteers who come together to form a branch, establish classes, promote the music, song and dance and give authority to County Boards, Provincial Councils and the Ardchomhairle to develop and direct the organisation.
The Branch Officer have always played a key role in the development and promotion of Comhaltas through the activities they organise and host. To help increase the understanding of each officer role, Comhaltas, in conjunction with the Meitheal teams and the Regional Centres, will be hosting a seminar on the role of the Officers in the Branch in each of the Regional Centres and in other locations also.
The Seminar Programme is designed to give each participant an overview of the requirements and responsibilities of each of the Branch Officer roles – Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, PRO, Treoraí an Gaeilge and Youth Officer. A 15 minute presentation on each role, given by a panel of speakers with significant experience, will be followed by a Question & Answer Session.
Each branch is invited to send representatives to the “Seminar on the Roles of Branch Officers” that will be held on Saturday, September 21st in Cois na hAbhna, Ennis from 10a.m. to 2p.m. Refreshments and sandwiches will be available.
Participation in these courses is open to branch officers and members considering going forward as officers. There will be no charge but as numbers will be limited, branches should submit details of applicants to Nicola Frazer at eolas@coisnahabhna.ie or (065) 682 4276.
It is recommended that those taking part in the Training Day will attend each session as this will give all officers and potential officers a good understanding of the roles of all their colleagues on the Branch committee.
Over the next twelve months, Comhaltas will arrange seminars on the Comhaltas Child Protection Policy, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), Comhaltas Insurance and the Comhaltas Social Media Usage Guidelines & Policy.
