Bonn Óir Seán Ó Riada - Cuireadh Chun Ceoil
September 22, 2020
A trad Irish music competition for the Seán Ó Riada Gold medal and a €2500 purse is held on the Cuireadh Chun Ceoil radio (RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta) program every year; it is open to any musician all over the world without cost.
The competition runs on a four-year cycle, focusing on different instruments.
There have been competitors from Ireland, Scotland, England, France, Switzerland, Finland, Russia, Japan, Australia, Canada, America and so on.
This year's Bonn Óir Sheáin Uí Riada will give out two gold medals and two purses for the Harp and Pipes. We appreciate how difficult a year this is for everyone but we do feel that it is very important to keep in touch with the
extended family of Irish music enthusiasts around the world.
Closing date is 25/9/2020. All entries via internet site http://nua.cuireadhchunceoil.ie/ccc/
It is free to enter and instructions and advice are on the site.
Each year 15 entries are selected to participate in the final, held annually in Cork on the first weekend of February each year, and which is broadcast live on Raidió na Gaeltachta.
